The Hope of Loving
by: Meister Eckhart
Transl. Daniel Ladinksky
What keeps us alive, what allows us to endure?
I think it is the hope of loving,
or being loved.
I heard a fable once about the sun going on a journey
to find its source, and how the moon wept
without her lover’s
warm gaze.
We weep when light does not reach our hearts. We wither
like fields if someone close
does not rain their
kindness
upon
us.

Everything is farther away than it used to be.
It is even twice as far to the corner and they have added a hill.
I have given up running for the bus; it leaves earlier than it used to.
It seems to me they are making the stairs steeper than in the old days.
And have you noticed the smaller print they use in the newspapers?
There is no sense in asking anyone to read aloud anymore,
as everybody speaks in such a low voice I can hardly hear them.
The material in dresses is so skimpy now,
especially around the hips and waist,
that it is almost impossible to reach one's shoelaces.
And the sizes don't run the way they used to.
The 12s and 14s are so much smaller.
Even people are changing.
They are so much younger than they used to be when I was their age.
On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.
I ran into an old classmate the other day
and she has aged so much that she didn't recognize me.
I got to thinking about the poor dear
while I was combing my hair this morning,
and in so doing I glanced at my own reflection.
Really now, they don't even make good mirrors like they used to
Trees
by: Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Our Second First Kissby: Giselle SimentalWe dwell on the past, while living the present But I admit, the past was unpleasant Full of ups and downs, less pleasure more pain We wished for the sun, but only got rain We both made mistakes, put pain in our hearts But here we are again, promising to never part Counting our blessings and letting go of the past Starting all over and making it last Feelings and memories flow deep in my mind Of those days our love was genuine and kind Holding you close, feeling your skin You look into my eyes and make my head spin Those feelings are back, but stronger than ever I know you're the one I wanna hold on to forever We both smile again, nothing's better than this Kissing you again was like our second first kiss.Because Of Youby: Amy S. Bedford
Because of you my world is now whole, Because of you love lives in my soul. Because of you I have laughter in my eyes, Because of you I am no longer afraid of good-byes. You are my pillar my stone of strength, With me through all seasons and great times of length. My love for you is pure boundless through space and time, it grows stronger everyday with the knowledge that you'll always be mine. At the altar I will joyously say 'I do', for I have it all now and it's all because of you.
